What is Youth Red Cross (YRC) ?

The “Youth Red Cross” is a constituent of ‘Indian Red Cross Society’ (Karnataka), which is a part of ‘International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement’. It is a voluntary organisation to protect human life and health, and providing relief in the times of disasters/emergencies.

The YRC of the college was initiated to enhance and enrich the students about humanitarian values and humanity. Students of all discipline are the members of this unit, where 32 core members are selected for this academic year. Various events are conducted under the guidance of the programme officer Mr.Sanketh A P, Lecturer, Department of BusinessAdministration.

Objectives:
  1.        Promotion and protection of health and life.
  2.        To provide disaster relief to the victims.
  3.        To promote awareness on voluntary blood donation.
  4.        To promote National and International peace.

Events:
  •       Organisation of voluntary blood donation camp in the college in collaboration with St. Josephs Hospitals, Mysore.
  • A talk on blood donation and eye donation by Dr.Anand, Paediatrician, Government hospital, Virajpet, Kodagu. 
  • A talk given by YRC students on importance of blood donation at Vijaya High School, Kadanga
  • YRC wing in collaboration with NSS unit had organised a visit to anatomy department at Kodagu Institute of Medical Sciences to sensitise the students on the significance of body donation and organ donation in the medical field.
